At Home With @belindalovelee

We recently had the joy of chatting with home interiors influencer @BelindaLoveLee, who lives in her stunning 19th-century Welsh country cottage with her family. With her love for country-style décor, she chose our Emily Bond Roman Blinds to complement her space. We caught up with Belinda to hear all about her beautiful home, her new blinds, and her signature interior style!

How would you describe your interior style?

“I aim for our home to be effortlessly styled, painted in earthy tones, and in a country cottage kind of way! I think it’s important for the interior styling of your home to be sympathetic to the type of house exteriorly that it was built in. Currently we live in a 19th century country cottage and the style we’re leaning into would (hopefully) be found appropriate to the time the cottage was first made! So think shaker styled furniture but with a modern twist, tongue and groove and lots of earthy colours and textures! If we were to live in a Victorian home, I would style it differently to the home we have currently, but probably still within the same colour palette, as it’s my absolute favourite!”

What is a commonly overlooked but an essential staple for your home?

“An essential staple for our home is for all of it to function with a similar kind of colour palette as briefly mentioned above! I find that it helps keep the overall feel of the home much more cohesive. So for example in our home, we tend to lean into the neutrals, sage greens and blues and no matter what room you walk into, it all just kind of flows and works as a whole! Also the benefits to working within a colour palette is that you can switch up a pillow or two from room to room. The decor pieces you purchase become much more flexible to work with! “

What are your next plans for your home??

“We’re currently working on renovating our kitchen! We have this grand plan of building and thrifting every piece of furniture in our home, even down to the kitchen! My talented husband @kerfcollection is a kitchen and furniture maker, so we will be designing and building the whole room from scratch!

The ‘pros’ to having a husband as a carpenter is that we can design and switch up our home to our liking whenever! The ‘cons’ are that it takes a little longer than just buying your furniture / kitchen from a big box store! But the wait is well worth it! “

Why did you choose Roman Blinds?

“I absolutely love our blinds and specifically went with the Roman Blinds because I love how effortlessly it looks. It’s subtle but still has a statement to it, in a farmhouse, country cottage kind of way!”

What do you like about the Emily Bond collection?

“The stripes totally won me over, mind you the whole collection is just perfect! I love that stripes are woven into the fabric, and that they aren’t just super imposed or printed on! It’s such a touch of luxe without trying, and the color palette we went for is just so fitting! “

What difference has having Motorised Blinds made to day to day life?

“It’s been a game changer! The kind of dream you dream of having as a kid! It’s been so nice to not have to get out of bed to open the blinds. My toddler now wakes us up each morning by opening the blinds!”

What’s your favourite season and would you say this season is reflected in your interior style?

“I’m an absolute sucker for summers and I definitely think it has a play on our home’s design colours. I love the greens and blues that come out with the sunshine, paired with the beach in the backdrop. The soft taupes and neutrals from the sand and rocks, just compliment the greens and blues so perfectly.”

What are your top tips for someone wanting to make a house a home?

“My top tip would be, to be really intentional about the pieces you bring into your home and treat it as if you’re curating a gallery! We make so much effort into making sure each piece that we bring home from each basket to stool down to even the light switches, they are all ones that we really love! I find that when you’re more intentional with your pieces, you take the four walls called a ‘house’ and make it so much more your own, into a ‘home’! Intentional living at its best.”

If you had £10,000 to spend on a piece of furniture or interior design, what would it be and why?

“We will finish our kitchen first thing first! And then we would blow out of our windows in our study and turn them into french doors leading onto Juliet balcony. It’s the one where we have the Emily Bond George Stripe in Blue, it has the most gorgeous view of the farmer’s field and it would be so amazing to be able to enjoy that view even more!”

Where do you get home inspiration from?

“One of my biggest inspirations is the one and only Devol Kitchens, we especially love their TV series ‘For the Love of Kitchens’ as it really dives deep into their process of designing, to building to styling! There is nothing that Paul and Helene don’t do well, they execute every project and styling it so beautifully!”
