Measuring for ZeroLux™ Blinds

ZeroLux is designed to fit most standard window types, but there are a few considerations.

ZeroLux won’t fit windows that are not square. Additionally, the blinds require at least 30mm of unobstructed recess space for proper installation.
If your window doesn’t meet these criteria, ZeroLux may not be suitable for you.

Here’s a list of compatible and incompatible window types to help you determine if our product is the right fit for your home:

Bay Windows
Sash Windows
Sliding Windows
Skylights

Step 1 – Measuring Your Window’s Recess Depth

Step 1 – Measuring Your Window’s Recess Depth

Before you measure the width and height of your window, it’s important to check the recess depth to ensure there’s enough space for the ZeroLux to fit inside

IMPORTANT

Minimum recess depth required: To allow sufficient room for your blind to operate, it is important that there is a minimum of 30mm depth clearance between the farthest point of any obstruction and the front of the
recess for proper installation.

How to measure: Start at the front edge of the window recess (the part farthest from the window)
and measure to the shallowest point within the recess.

Step 2 – Measuring with Obstructions

Step 2 – Measuring with Obstructions

Even if your window recess is deep, obstructions can prevent the blinds from closing properly. Common
obstructions within your recess space include window handles, latches, locks and winders or cranks.

Check for width obstructions:

Any obstructions in your recess (tiles, dado rail, etc) may prevent the blinds from being suitable for your
windows. For tiled windows these blinds are suitable providing the tiles cover the full recess wall.

To ensure everything fits:

  1. Measure the recess depth from the front of the recess to the window.
  2. Measure the obstruction depth from the front of the window to the front of the obstruction (e.g., a handle).
  3. Subtract the obstruction depth from the recess depth to find your unobstructed recess space.

Important: You need at least 30mm of unobstructed recess space to install blind securely

Step 3 – Measuring the Width

Step 3 – Measuring the Width

Measure the width of the recess in at least three places where you would like to install your blind. You will use the smallest of these figures as your width measurement when ordering your blind.

Step 4 – Measuring the Drop

Step 4 – Measuring the Drop

Measure the drop of the recess in at least three places where you would like to install your blind. You will use the smallest of these figures as your drop measurement when ordering your blind.

Important Top Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Be precise: Use the exact measurements this ensures the best fit.
  • Use a Metal Tape Measure: When measuring ensure you are using a metal tape measure for accuracy.
  • Allow us to make the deductions: Provide the exact width and height, and we’ll make any necessary adjustments during manufacturing.
  • Measure at the front of the recess: This is the area where the ZeroLux will be installed, so it’s crucial to measure accurately at this depth.
